Welcome to X-Men Fan Site.com!

Thank you for visiting X-Men Fan Site.com.  We are a home for fans whose lives have been touched by the great storytelling and compelling characters of X-Men comics.  We have become artists in our own right, thinking critically about what we read and the depths of the characters that we love.  X-Men Fan Site aims at establishing a community of readers that do more than just follow plot.  It is because of our dedication to keeping up with comics that comics have kept up and grown up with us.  X-Men Fan Site has established polls not only for fun, but to really take a look at which  characters, that have changed so much over the years, are our favorites right now, and which, of all the amazing story lines we've read over the years, have stuck with us and still affect us emotionally today.  As serious fans, we've also grown to love some of the more obscure characters created in the X-Men's history.  X-Men Fan Site is like you and hasn't forgotten these characters and is remaining on top of their whereabouts and re-entry onto the X-Men's front burner.  Registration on our site is 100% free and advertisement free.  We'd love to hear what you have to say so please register and feel free to edit your profile and use your X-Men Fan Site mini profile badge to post on your myspace page or in any forum you should so desire.  We look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy joining our growing community.

Exclusive Interview with Mike Carey writer of X-Men Legacy
Before reading this article, I think it's important to take a moment to thank Mikey Carey and Jordan Lurie for conducting the interview.  Insight into the minds of the one the greatest writers of the history of the X-Men is, indeed, the highest honour for us to receive.  Mike Carey's strong storytelling and compelling words are only matched by his generosity.  We thank him sincerely for the opportunity to look deeper into the characters we love that have been so rightfully placed in his hands.  Jordan Lurie's commitment to asking the right questions and initiative to get the interview are truly commendable and he is now my personal rock star.  I hope everyone finds this interview as revealing and powerful as I did.  Allow me to introduce Jordan Lurie's interview of Mike Carey, writer of X-Men: Legacy.

Empath - Mutant of the Month Oct 08
Empath from the HellionsPie Chart of Mutant of the Month Poll from September 08Never has there been a cast of characters like the Hellions.  They have consistantly suffered the slings and arrows of a vast amount of writers at their helm and the ever changing Marvel Universe.   Their original leader Empath is also the original Julian Keller in many respects.  He's Emma Frost's prize pupil, the leader of her squad of mutants, and also has a power relating to the mind.  Created by Chris Claremont,  Empath's Romeo and Juliet type relationship with Magma of the Hellion's rival, the New Mutants, spared Manny from the fatal confrontation his peers had at the hands of Trevor Fitzroy.  A relationship no one saw coming from either side took Magma off the roster of the New Mutants and onto the Hellions.  When Magma decided to retire to Nova Roma that's when she brought Empath with her, and we got to see him in a whole new role - vulnerable.  Empath confessed that he can't tell if people like him because he might be using his powers, that he has an addiction to manipulating others, and that he has fallen head over heels in love with Magma.  After she was hurt, it was Empath who nursed her back to health until they ran into Amara's family in Nova Roma.  She introduced Empath as Manuel de le Rocha and her friend.

One M-Day later, Magma and Empath had separated after discovering he was using his powers to control her and the people of Nova Roma.  It was obvious the void created in Empath's life by Magma's leaving led to his subsequent addiction to Kick and and finally in a position to be manipulated by the Red Queen through eerie saddo-masochistic means.
